Fabulous new hotel next to bus stop 13. Perfect for tours, airport transfers. 5 min walk to start of more tourist areas and close to church, famous bakery, cafes & Reykjavík Coffee Roaster. It was quiet at night and I chose this property based on the reviews for “quiet” away from bars (due to early touring). I liked the daily breakfast. Boiled eggs, breads, cheese, fruit, home made cakes! The front desk staff were very helpful. I requested a quiet room with walk in shower and they could accommodate. I loved the outdoor hot pool although I wish had used it more, was just so busy. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are happy for a fringe location, not in the main square & happy to walk to the attractions/and a very easy bus stop 13 at the door. It ticked all the boxes ! Really happy with my stay here. Note weather was very sunny so I didn’t walk in the rain to centre of town.

This property is on the edge of the downtown area, and weather permitting, you could walk downtown to the core entertainment. Breakfast each morning in the on site restaurant,Jörgensen and their wonderful staff. The food was amazing although the selection was limited and repetitive, however there was always fresh fruit and pastries, variety of breads and cereal options. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage hash browned potatoes and roasted tomatoes. All served buffet style. The most amazing item on the breakfast bar was the Cod liver oil, which we saw many people taking. The front seat staff was also amazing and very helpful with any issues you may have and always seemed happy to assist. Special shout out to Veronica, who seeemed to always be there smiling and eager to help Many dining options within a short walk for traditional Icelandic food

The hotel is in the city centre, so the main street with its many souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants is just around the corner. The main attractions are almost all within walking distance. The room was comfortable and the spa area with hot tube and sauna was a very nice addition. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and there was a wide variety of food to choose from. However, half board is not really half board as you may be used to from other hotels. You just get a voucher for a 2 course dinner that you can use in the hotel restaurant. Appetizer + main course or main course + dessert. All additionals like soft drinks, teas are not included. Still, the restaurant was very good and the food was very delicious - I would just like information on how the half board works in advance.

Location: around the corner from Loa Restaurant, which we greatly appreciated in the cold winter Breakfast: get there ON TIME because everybody is going on a tour and will be queuing up for a table! Needless to say, breakfast was an amazing spread with plenty of Icelandic fare as well. Was nice to try skyr, rye bread and marinated herring! Outdoor pool, indoor thermal spring and sauna: this was definitely the highlight of our stay, since during our trip, the lagoons were either full or closed. You have the option to order from the bar straight from the outdoor hot pool!! It is also open till 10pm. Amazing to have a drink in the 40C water while it's snowing on you. With the number of people at breakfast, they are very smart to provide small plates to prevent wastage.

I stayed 5 days in Midgardur and I was sorry when I left. A hotel with an excellent position, with rooms with minimalist furniture that does not tire, with a lot of warmth. Excellent breakfast and the restaurant with refined dishes. I especially appreciated the kindness of the staff at the reception and the help given to solve other problems not directly related to the hotel: information for parking lots and their payment method, related to excursions, transfers of others. In contrast to the cold weather and the strong wind outside, the hotel was an oasis of warmth.
